October 15, 2020: October is National Principals Month. Today, we celebrate Mrs. Garner (principal) and Mrs. Wycuff (assistant principal) from MES. Mrs. Garner has been part of the Monett R-1 School District for 12 years and Mrs. Wycuff for 28 years. When you visit MES, you will find Mrs. Garner and Mrs. Wycuff in action. You will catch them in the classrooms, in the hallways checking on students and staff, or helping students in the cafeteria. Rain or shine, they are out helping with car duty. They cheer in celebrations and comfort during difficult times. Thank you, Mrs. Garner and Mrs. Wycuff, for all you do to make MES a great place for students and staff.

October 15, 2020: The Pink Out events are still in full motion at Monett R-1.

October 20, 2020: Did you know our teachers offer different types of tours throughout the school year without leaving the building? Students at MMS are learning about Early Colonial America via a QR code gallery walk. This form of learning is an interactive way for students to take self-paced notes. It promotes movement, keeps students engaged longer, and allows students to have fun as they explore and learn.

October 13, 2020: Our students at MHS enjoyed a delicious meal today! Due to our local cattlemen's help, we are able to provide locally sourced beef to students in our cafeterias. If you are interested in donating meat for MO Beef for MO Kids, please email us at socialmedia@monettschools.org!

October 9, 2020: October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. MMS and MHS students held their annual PINK OUT event this week. Students and staff wore pink to show their support and spread HOPE, LOVE, and POSITIVITY. Mark your calendar: MIS students are having their PINK OUT day on Wednesday, October 14th.

October 8, 2020: Mr. Calhoun and Dr. Apostol were spotted cleaning tables in between lunches. It takes a team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and staff. October 6, 2020: The Go CAPS STEM students visited Mrs. Bradow's 8th-grade Careers class. The STEM students shared information on careers and jobs within the high-demand STEM fields. The MMS students enjoyed a hands-on biology and engineering design challenge.

October 2, 2020: Today is Custodial and Maintenance Appreciation Day! Our custodians and maintenance team have gone beyond their assigned duties to ensure our buildings are clean and functioning. This year has been challenging, especially for the custodial and maintenance team. When everyone was at home, they worked extra hours to fulfill all of the new requirements to keep our schools clean. We did not hear them complain once. They knew what needed to get done, and simply got it done. We are grateful to have an incredible custodial and maintenance team!

October 2, 2020: We are excited to announce we have a Virtual Calming Center! The Virtual Calming Center is a place for students, parents, and staff to take a mental break. It includes breathing activities, guided imagery, music, mindfulness, coloring, puzzles, and much more. October 1, 2020: Mrs. Piepenbrink's students have been learning how to read physical maps, road maps, political maps, and weather maps. Students had the opportunity to choose a kind of map and create their own. Learning how to read maps helps students understand distances from one location to the other and apply these skills to real-life situations.
