Welcome to Monett R-I Schools, where the safety of our students is our number one priority.
All bus assignments and bus stop information can be obtained by calling the transportation director at 235-3251. Students residing in town should be at bus stops several minutes prior to departure times. The school does not provide supervision at bus pickup points and children are expected to follow school rules while waiting at and walking to and from the bus stop. Students can and may be disciplined for inappropriate behavior at a bus stop.
The driver is in charge of students and the bus. Students must obey the driver promptly and cheerfully. Classroom conduct is to be observed by students while riding the bus. Students must not try to get on or off the bus or move about within the bus while it is in motion. Buses will load immediately after school each day. Please be prompt in reporting to your bus, especially to those that leave immediately after school.

Bus Changes for 2020-2021
July 20, 2020
We hope this letter finds you and your family safe and well during this unusual time. This correspondence will inform parents of changes to our busing system and safety procedures for the upcoming school year.
Busing changes for 2020-2021:
The district is excited to announce we will be adding four additional buses to morning and afternoon routes this school year, giving us a total of 19 routes. This will allow us to have fewer students on each bus and reduce the time each student is being transported.
Students, school staff, and bus drivers will be required to wear a mask while on the bus. Since social distancing will be challenging to maintain in the small space of a bus, the district feels this is necessary to help with the safety of our students and staff. Once students are off the bus, they will follow the expectations of the school building.
Buses will also be dedicated to grade level. We will have eight buses that will go to MES, CPE, and MIS (they will not go to MMS and MHS) and 11 buses that will go to MMS and MHS (they will not go to MES, CPE, MIS). This change has two purposes. First, with fewer stops, students will not ride the bus as long. Second, students will be riding the bus with others that are similar in age.
Schools will no longer be bus stops. This will allow us to be more efficient in getting students on the buses in the afternoon. If your student used the school bus as a bus stop in the past, they will need to use a new bus stop near the school building.
Please remember students in PreK to 2nd grade must have someone meet them at the bus stop to get off the bus. Students that do not have someone to meet them will be taken back to the elementary building and participate in the afterschool program, Cub House, until someone can pick them up. Cub House ends at 6:00 pm and is free of charge to students in PreK-8th grade. There is an electronic or paper enrollment option available. If you need assistance, please call the building office of your child’s school.
If you are unsure of your child’s bus stop, please call Apple Bus at 417-354-0941 or your child’s school office.
Apple Bus and the Monett R-1 School District are using the following guidelines to keep students, staff, and bus drivers safe.
When weather permits, all bus windows will be open to improve circulation.
Riders will be assigned seats to limit the number of people touching the area.
Buses will be sanitized each time they return to the bus terminal (minimum twice per day).
All bus riders will wear a mask.
Buses will be fogged every two weeks to help sanitize.
Though we feel these changes will assist in keeping bus riders safe and allow the district to be more efficient in transporting our students, we would like to encourage parents to consider driving their students during the 2020-21 school year whenever possible. This would help in social distancing on the bus and allow us to get the students with no other transportation available to their destination as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to keep everyone safe.
