Students are staying busy in Ceramic and Advanced Art classes. Students have been working on large sculpture pieces. They are learning how to make lamps, pitchers, and vases. Students are also working on "larger than life-like" food sculptures, inspired by artists Rommy De Bommy and Peter Anton.

📖Dr. Drake stopped by Miss. Ceceñas' class to read to students. Students are learning about cultures and folktales. Dr. Drake read "Martina the Beautiful Cockroach," a Cuban folktale. Students discussed the message of the story and the sequence of events.

MHS Speech and Debate students competed at the NSDA (National Speech and Debate Association) National Qualifier Tournament this past weekend. Five Students made it to finals and three qualified to compete at the National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky this summer!

MES students walked into class yesterday only to find out that a leprechaun had left a big mess for students to clean. They soon discovered that the leprechaun got Ms. Bueno and locked her in the closet. Don't worry, students made sure she was okay. Ms. Bueno said the leprechaun left gold coins for students to have. 🍀

We had a special visitor in the Monett School District this week! The Missouri Commissioner of Education Margie Vandeven, stopped in Monett to visit with students and tour Scott Regional Technology Center!

CPE students in math class measured the range of motion using their knee, shoulder, and elbow joints. Students worked together to test how far their joints could rotate comfortably. Once done, students recorded the estimated angles and fractions.

Mrs. Gripka has been our Monett Elementary School teacher for 15 years! Her hobbies include roller skating, attending the community theater, and spending time with her husband and two daughters. ourth graders in K. Brown and Mrs. Allen's class were given tiles and worked together collaboratively to create a square with an area of 144 square units. They had to determine how many tiles each student was given to start with, find the sum of the tiles they had altogether as a group, and find the difference of how many tiles their group needed to equal 144 tiles in all.

Last week, our 8th graders had the opportunity to tour EFCO Corporation, Jack Henry & Associates Airport, Life360 building, and the Monett Police Department, as part of the Aspire Academy.
The Aspire Academy is a one-day interactive experience for middle school students promoting leadership, professionalism, and career exploration. The day was comprised of business tours that allowed our local professionals to share with students some of the jobs available and skills that are important to be successful.

FEATURE FRIDAY - Jennifer Leeper - K-12 Art Teacher
Mrs. Leeper has been an art teacher for 12 years! She loves reading, horseback riding, and watching her son play sports. What she loves most about being a Monett Cub is, "Even in the most terrible of times, this district comes together to thrive. I feel very included in this district. I am very thankful for my building administrators who show above and beyond support to succeed, which in turn lets the students succeed even more."
