Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade students pictured below for being selected into the Southwest Missouri Educators Junior High District Band!

MES Students celebrated the 100th day of school last week! Each classroom had different celebration activities. Some students received a necklace with 100 beads, and others counted up to 100 using various items.

Students at MMS in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) used the Engineering Design Process to make marshmallows and spaghetti towers. Students had 23 minutes to design and build their towers. The tallest tower was 37.5 inches tall!

Congratulations to Harrison Merriman for signing a letter of intent to play football at Northwest Missouri State University!

This week we celebrate our counselors for 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸! National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors have in helping students achieve school success. We thank our counselors for their dedication to students and Monett Schools!

Students at MIS are learning and practicing division combinations with base-ten area pieces. They used equations to record combinations.

CPE students are learning about the engineering design process. Students were given perimeters with materials. They were asked to use the materials to build their structure under a time frame. Students were able to test and modify their designs to meet the requirements. This project was part of an engineering unit in science.

Congratulations to the Monett High School Girls Swim Team for winning the Big 8 Conference Meet yesterday! They've earned this title 3 years in a row! Way to go, Swim Team!

Students at MMS are now operating a small hot chocolate business. Students were tasked with figuring out ways to fund the business, naming the business, and ensuring it ran properly. Students decided to name the business MMS Express. This project aims to help students understand how a small business operates.

Congrats to Josh Harvey and Jordan Thompson, who placed 3rd in their weight division at Joplin’s Powerlifting Meet over the weekend!

MMS Art students have been busy tie-dyeing! Check out the awesome results!

Fourth graders worked on creating pentominoes based on characteristics. They learned about parallel and perpendicular sides, lines of symmetry, and area and perimeter.

MMS students completed the 500 Acts of Kindness Challenge in December! Mrs. Russell said "We had so many participants from all over the school. I'm very proud of MMS!"

We are thrilled to welcome our Cubs back on campus after the holiday break! Please remember to charge your devices, clean your backpacks, and set out a warm coat to wear tomorrow!
