Mr. Ken Gaspar, Monett R-1 Board President and MSBA Delegate and Mrs. Annie Smith, MR-1 Board Member and MSBA Alternate were recently recognized for achieving Advanced Board Member Certification at the 2023 MSBA Igniting Great Ideas Summit held at the Chateau on the Lake. Mr. Gaspar and Mrs. Smith engaged in ongoing professional development and leadership to improve the knowledge and skills they need to be effective educational leaders in the Monett community.
To achieve Advanced Certification, board members must earn twelve additional training credits beyond the required 18.5 hours of new board member training, complete the annual Refresher training requirement through MSBA, read two books related to school board service, attend at least two MSBA regional or statewide events, and write an essay relating their study to their board service.
