Qualifications

Any student attending the district is eligible for the use of a district-owned device. The non-refundable usage fee must be paid in full prior to a student being eligible to take a device off of district property. Students must comply with all of the expectations in the User Agreement and Acceptable Usage Policies in order to maintain possession of the device. Failure to pay the usage fee will result in usage of the device limited to in-district and full financial liability in the event of damage or loss of the device.

Terms

The device is legally the property of Monett R-1 School District. The usage fee must be paid in full before it is allowed to be removed from district property. This fee is not able to be refunded. Students will be issued the same device and maintain its use each school year unless otherwise specified. Additional financial obligation will be assumed by the student/parent/guardian for loss or damage due to handling, transport, storage, use, or if reported loss/damage is not in compliance with the User Agreement or Acceptable Usage Policies. Failure to meet the financial obligation will result in repossession or limited usage of the device. If a student is no longer attending the Monett R-1 School District, the device must be returned immediately. If the student fails to return the device as provided by this agreement, Monett R-1 School District will presume the student means to retain possession with a criminal intent.

Payment

The annual usage fee is a non-refundable dollar amount as described in the following table. The usage fee will need to be paid for each student grades 6-12. No multi-student discounts will be provided.

FAQs

If I damage multiple parts or components due to covered damaged, like liquid damage, do I have to pay the cost of all parts?

Typically, no. Any single-incident claim with covered damages would be covered after the deductible amount of $50 is reached. If the total cost of parts was $150, then the out-of-pocket cost for a single incident would be $50.

If I don't pay the usage fee and I have an accident causing damage to the device, can I pay the fee to limit my out-of-pocket expense to the premium and deductible amount?

Regrettably, no. By electing not to pay the insurance premium up front, you accept that you will be responsible for any and all damage costs resulting from use per the device agreement.

Can I setup a payment plan for the fee or deductible(s)?

Yes! Please contact one of the district school offices to get a monthly payment plan started. You will need to stay current with any payment plan terms to retain eligibility for the device to leave district property.

What happens if another damage happens while I have outstanding balance from a previous incident/claim?

The previous balance must be paid in full before the student will be reissued the device or issued a replacement device.

Why am I responsible for the deductible amount if I already paid the fee?

The fee grants you coverage under our program, but doesn't cover the out-of-pocket expenses. It is similar to a health or car insurance program where the premium gets you access and you are responsible up to the deductible for covered damages and incidents. Anything below the deductible amount is an out-of-pocket expense.

Do I have to pay the fee?

No, but the student will not be eligible to take their device off of district property; and you will still be responsible for any damages, up to the full replacement cost, to the property arising from the use, or abuse, while in the student's care.

What do I do if my device is lost or stolen?

If your device is lost or stolen, contact your school office as soon as possible. We will provide the serial number to your device. You will need this number to make a police report. It is important that you contact law enforcement to make the police report within 48 hours. If the loss or theft occurred in the Monett city limits, you may contact the Monett Police Department by phone at (417) 235-4241 or in person at 1901 E Cleveland Ave, Monett, MO 65708.
