Update on Facilities/Grounds by Steve Garner, Director of Operations, included:

Traffic Signal Software: MODOT has provided the district with the signal light equipment and software at no cost. Updates to the software are not expected, but our tech team can continue to manage it. Once the contract arrives, the district will sign it and move forward. The school-day schedule has already been uploaded, and lights will flash one hour before and after school.

MES Elevator: The elevator issue at MES will be repaired this month. The district will make this final repair and has received a bid to fully replace the elevator.

SRTC Welding Ventilation Project: The Board approved updates to the welding ventilation system earlier this fall. Work is scheduled for Christmas break. Maintenance staff and welding students will assist with the demolition portion of the project.
Update on Academics by Dr. Isaac Sooter, Assistant Superintendent included:

Leadership Pulse Survey: Principals completed the second round of the leadership pulse survey, which helps guide support in areas such as learning culture, campus organization, and leadership development.

Data-Informed Instruction: Principals are using STAR data to set goals, refine small-group instruction, and strengthen accountability and consistency across classrooms.

Recognition and Culture: Schools continue to celebrate staff and student achievements, reinforcing positive culture and leadership at every level.

Reading Success Plan: Five students successfully exited their Individualized Reading Improvement Plans. Instructional coaches are leading ongoing coaching cycles to support teachers and strengthen reading growth.

Assessment Alignment: Principals are working to refine assessments and student data practices, helping promote continuity and clarity in how progress is measured across the district.

The Board approved MSBA's 2025D Update.
The Board approved to amend the 2026-2027 school calendar. While reviewing our 2026–2027 school calendar, we realized the originally approved start date falls earlier than what Missouri law allows. State guidelines require school to begin no sooner than ten days before Labor Day, meaning the earliest possible start in 2026 is August 24. To stay in compliance, the calendar must be adjusted.
We are also in the process of submitting a request to the State Board of Education asking for permission to start school on August 18, 2026. We will keep you informed as we learn more and will share the updated calendar with families soon.
