Scott Regional Technology Center is excited to share the many impactful opportunities our students experienced the month of November. From aviation experiences to leadership development, mock interviews to internship success stories, our students continue to shine thanks to the support of our sending schools, families, and industry partners.

From aviation mechanics to lifesaving care, Mercy Life Line Air Medical Services—including a pilot, aviation mechanic, nurses, and medics—joined us on campus to demonstrate how every role is vital to mission success. Students learned how collaboration keeps crews safe and supports life-saving work in the field.

This was an especially meaningful visit because Aviation Mechanic Troy Peterson, a Metro Aviation employee and graduate of Miller High School and Scott Tech’s Electronics Program (Class of ’83), returned to inspire today’s learners. He was excited to share the story of his career and what it is like to be an aviation mechanic.

We also want to recognize Tara Swearingen, RN, EMT-P, CCRN, CFRN, a proud former Scott Tech Health Occupations student, for spearheading this exceptional experience. Tara shared her experiences and her passion that she has for the medical field that all started here at Scott Tech.

A special thank-you to the City of Monett Fire Department for setting up the landing zone and partnering with us to bring this experience to life.

The beloved Elf Hut is officially back and better than ever—thanks to our Construction Technology students! After giving the hut a needed facelift and completing important maintenance, students ensured it’s ready to spread Christmas cheer at the beautiful Festival of Lights in Monett South Park. Be sure to make a pass through the park to enjoy the lights and check out the Elf Hut all spruced up!

Our JROTC Cadets honored local veterans with a heartfelt presentation and luncheon on Veterans Day. We are deeply grateful to all who attended and to those who have served our country.

Two additional JROTC groups represented Scott Tech at community and school events by presenting the colors with professionalism and respect.

A special thank-you to our Culinary Arts Program for preparing a wonderful meal for this meaningful event.

Ww hosted one of our most impactful events—Mock Interview Day. Nearly 500 mock interviews were conducted, thanks to the generosity of our incredible business partners and industry professionals. We appreciate their time, expertise, and willingness to invest in our students give them the confidence and real-world skills they need to prepare for their futures. We are incredibly proud of our students for showing up professionally, dressing the part, and giving their best effort.

SkillsUSA members attended the Southwest Missouri Fall Leadership Conference in Carthage, joining students from across the region to “Champion Your Future,” this year’s leadership theme. Students participated in breakout sessions centered on communication, leadership, and personal growth, and we are proud to congratulate all who earned their Statesman Pin.

Angelina is interning at First State Bank, one of Scott Tech’s longstanding internship partners. Here’s what she shared about her experience:

“My favorite thing has been learning how to support customers with their financial needs. I enjoy problem solving and being able to learn new things every day. I have also really enjoyed collaborating with my team—they have been so supportive and helpful during this experience, and I am forever grateful for that!”

Uriel has been offering insight into what attracts his demographic when choosing a college and was “boots on the ground” at the Monett College & Career Fair, assisting the Drury team with outreach and engagement.

We are incredibly proud of both students for representing Scott Tech with professionalism and enthusiasm.
