The 2025-26 school year is off to a strong start at Scott Regional Technology Center! From kicking off our 60th year of Career and Technical Education to sending students out on exciting field trips for hands-on learning, there’s already so much to celebrate. Students are busy passing safety tests, completing hospital orientations to begin their clinicals, and gaining real-world experiences that prepare them for their future careers. We’re proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see all that this year holds!

Scott Regional Technology Center is proud to celebrate 60 years of serving students and our community through Career and Technical Education. Scott Tech first opened its doors in the 1965–1966 school year with just three classes: Electronics, Auto Mechanics, and Drafting. Over the decades, our programs and impact have continued to grow. Today, we proudly offer 15 programs and serve 16 partner school districts across the region. As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on our history while looking ahead to the future—continuing to prepare students with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to succeed.

Four students from Scott Regional Technology Center represented southwest Missouri at the 2025 SkillsUSA National Championships, held June 23–27 in Atlanta, Georgia. The nation’s largest showcase of career and technical education, the event hosted more than 6,800 state champions competing in 114 trade, technical, and leadership contests.

The championships concluded with an awards ceremony at State Farm Arena, where over 1,250 medals, scholarships, and Skill Point Certificates—a national credential of workplace readiness—were awarded.

Scott Tech is proud of these students for their dedication, professionalism, and achievement as they represented their schools and communities on the national stage.

Scott Regional Technology Center DECA members attended the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, FL, April 26–29. This global event brought together over 26,000 DECA members and advisors from nearly every U.S. state and several countries, spotlighting the top student performers in business, marketing, finance, and leadership.

In addition to competition, students participated in leadership academies and networking opportunities with more than 80 internationally recognized businesses.

Each year, nearly 200,000 DECA members compete in local, state, and international events designed to simulate real-life business challenges. The ICDC represents the final and most competitive round of this experience.

Scott Tech recently welcomed sending school counselors to campus for a day of connection and exploration. The event began with JROTC leading the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a tailgate-inspired meal prepared by Culinary Arts students. Counselors then had the opportunity to tour Scott Tech programs and see students actively engaged in their coursework. The day also included a visit to SWI Industrial Solutions, where students in the Work Experience Program demonstrated skills that required fine motor coordination, teamwork, and time management. The event highlighted the strong partnerships between area schools and Scott Tech, while giving counselors a closer look at the hands-on learning experiences available to their students.

Scott Tech recently took 85 students on a visit to Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC), where they explored their designated program areas and gained a first-hand look at the educational and career opportunities available after high school. The tour gave students valuable insight into college life and showed how their current training at Scott Tech can seamlessly transition into future studies.

After the campus visit, students wrapped up the day with a stop at Big Shots, where they enjoyed good food, fun, and team-building activities.

Our Raider team has already competed in two meets this year—Leavenworth on September 13 and Joplin on September 20. At Leavenworth, we entered the highly competitive mixed (co-ed) division and proudly finished 9th out of 20 teams. Considering we are a much smaller program with fewer practice opportunities than most, this was an incredible accomplishment—and quite possibly the best performance our team has ever had at a Raider meet!

The Marketing Educators of Missouri (MEMO), a division of MOACTE and ACTE, proudly recognized Trish Henry, Marketing Instructor at Scott Regional Technology Center, as the 2025 MEMO New Teacher of the Year. The award was presented at MEMO’s annual conference on July 22 in Springfield, Missouri.

Now in just her third year of teaching marketing, Trish has already distinguished herself as a leader in marketing education. Known for her dynamic instruction, high expectations, and unwavering belief in student success, she exemplifies the innovation, professionalism, and student-centered teaching this award honors.

“Trish sets the bar high—not just for her students, but for herself,” said Krista Doss, fellow educator. “Her students consistently rise to meet those expectations because they know she believes in them.”

Trish manages the Scotty Store, a thriving student-run school-based enterprise that provides hands-on marketing experience in product selection, branding, inventory management, promotions, and customer service. Her students have also earned industry certifications and achieved success in DECA competitions, representing Scott Tech and Missouri with confidence and professionalism.

Beyond the classroom, Trish serves as a DECA advisor and active contributor to the CTE community. MEMO is proud to honor her passion, creativity, and commitment to student growth with this award.
