This past month at Scott Tech has been full of energy and achievement! Our hardworking students and dedicated staff have been busy celebrating student success, exploring career opportunities, and enjoying hands-on learning through field trips and special events.

During halftime of the Lamar vs. Monett High School football game, the spotlight shined on four outstanding students who were each awarded $1,000 scholarships to help them pursue their dreams in health care.

These generous scholarships were made possible by physicians at Cox Monett Hospital and Cox Barton County Hospital, and were matched dollar-for-dollar by the CoxHealth Foundation—doubling the impact and showing incredible support for the next generation of health care professionals.

From Monett, we’re proud to recognize:

-Matthew DaSilva, who plans to attend the University of Missouri–St. Louis and pursue a career in optometry.

-Aaron Arreola Salas, a Scott Tech student from Monett High School, who plans to attend Crowder College and pursue a career in nursing.

We’re so proud of these students and thankful for community partners like CoxHealth who invest in our youth and their future careers in caring for others.

The Culinary Arts and Work Experience programs recently joined forces for a fun and flavorful learning experience! Culinary Arts students prepared fresh pizza dough and homemade sauce in anticipation of collaborating with their peers from the Work Experience Program.

Students were paired together, with Culinary Arts students teaching their partners how to properly shape the dough and assemble the perfect pizza. The activity was both hands-on and educational, allowing students to practice teamwork, communication, and culinary skills—all while enjoying a delicious end result!

It was a mutually rewarding experience that showcased the power of collaboration and learning through doing.

The 2nd Annual Heavy Equipment Day at Scott Regional Technology Center gave students an immersive look into the world of construction and heavy equipment operations. Throughout the day, industry professionals shared their expertise and enthusiasm, highlighting the growing demand for skilled workers in this vital field.

Students explored every phase of construction—from groundwork to finishing details—experienced modern technologies in dirt work, and even had hands-on opportunities operating real equipment like dozers, skid steers, and trackhoes. Fabick Cat Mechanics demonstrated equipment maintenance, while North Arkansas College provided insight into earning a Technical Certificate in Heavy Equipment Operations.

A special thank you to our partners Vaughn Companies, Ozark Laser, Fabick Cat, NorthArk, DirtCalcs, and Tents for All Events for helping inspire the next generation of construction professionals and giving students a firsthand view of the exciting opportunities in this industry.

Scott Tech students had the opportunity to explore the exciting world of manufacturing right here in our community during Manufacturing Day 2025! Students toured PlayPower, T & C Stainless, TCE Precision, and Reyco Granning, where they learned about the wide range of career paths and technical skills that drive today’s manufacturing industry.

We are so thankful for our incredible community partners who opened their doors and shared their time and expertise. Experiences like these help students see firsthand the many opportunities available in the manufacturing field—right here at home!

Several Scott Tech students recently attended the SkillsUSA Missouri Fall Leadership Conference: EMPOWER 2025 in Springfield, Missouri. This impactful event equipped students with essential leadership skills and a deeper understanding of the SkillsUSA Framework to help them succeed throughout the school year. We’re proud to share our students who earned their Statesman Pin Award, demonstrating their knowledge of SkillsUSA history, values, and mission.

October was an exciting month for Scott Tech DECA, filled with engaging events, leadership development, and preparation for upcoming competitions.

The month began with the DECAdes Auto Show on October 4, organized by chapter member Maddix Newman from Mt. Vernon. The event was a tremendous success, showcasing students’ organization, creativity, and collaboration.

Chapter officers attended the Missouri DECA Fall Leadership Conference in Branson on October 12–13. This two-day event offered valuable leadership training and networking opportunities, and participants enjoyed a memorable DECA Night at Dolly Parton’s Stampede.

On October 17, members visited Leadership Ranch, where owner Tim shared his insights on business ownership and adaptability. Students then participated in a series of team-building challenges designed to strengthen communication and collaboration skills.

Throughout the month, members have also been hard at work fundraising for the upcoming DECA Power Trip in Washington, D.C., through a Krispy Kreme fundraiser and a Countdown Calendar Sponsorship.

With just two and a half weeks until departure, excitement is building as students prepare to take off!
