What is FAFSA? 

Seniors will complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in October each year, which is used to apply for federal financial aid. Colleges and universities are now requiring a FAFSA as part of the application process. FAFSA is not only used for college, but can be used for certification programs and many other things as well. Even if you plan on going straight to work after graduation, you will still need to complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA will be completed each year in October as long as you are attending college or a vocational program.

When do I complete the FAFSA? 

We will complete the FAFSA together at our FAFSA Fright Night held each October. You can also try to complete it on your own.

On this night, you will need to bring:

• Parent and Student FSA IDs
• Parent and Student Social Security Numbers

Create Parent and Student FSA IDs Before October 1^st

• Scan the QR Code or Visit the Student Aid website 
• Enter your name, date of birth and social security
• Create a Username and password (password cannot contain any part of your name or birthday)
• Take a picture of your username, create an album in your photos for college, & save in the album
• You do NOT have to select optional communication on page 4
• You DO have to verify your mobile number AND email address on page 7
• Take a picture of your backup code and store it in your college album
