Mental health is a growing concern in our community and our nation. We have enlisted the help of professionals at the Clark Center and Alternatives Employee Assistance Program to support staff. This is part of the employee benefits package. MIS has a new School Resource Officer this year. Officer Dwayne Rice is a Monett Police Officer. We are so pleased with the positive relationships he has already established with our students and staff. He teaches safety lessons almost weekly, helps with students who need a "break" by taking them on walks, having the student help "inspect" our campus for safety concerns--unlocked doors, etc., and eats lunch with our students. We LOVE having Officer Rice as our SRO. Did you know that Officer Rice was a Monett student and graduate?

MHS students in Ms. Griffin and Mrs. Leeper's classes have learned about different cultures and what makes each person unique. Students learned about art, architecture, foods, clothes, traditions, daily life, celebrations, and much more. Students interviewed people and furthered their knowledge in their own culture too. We invite the community to stop by MHS tomorrow, October 7th, to learn about different cultures from 6-7 pm. The Culture Fair is a celebration of the different cultures in Monett.

Students in Ms. Barker's class are working on their photography skills. They got the iPads out and went outside to explore framing the subject. Some students got creative and took an actual frame with them. The object was to get close to the foreground to create framing in their photographs.
