SRTC Summer Experience Program Read about the SRTC summer classes being offered in June 2023

Incoming Freshmen Students & Parents/Guardian, 

SRTC is offering a Summer School program focused on Construction, Graphic Design, Marketing: Sports Marketing and Entertainment Emphasis, Precision Machining, Welding, and ECE (Embedded Credit English )  (class descriptions below). 

Students will have the opportunity to participate in four program areas, each designed to provide insight into various career paths. Over the course of four weeks, students will have the opportunity to spend a week in each program area, rotating weekly to gain valuable experience in all four areas. 

Incoming freshmen students will earn a practical art credit by attending all 20 days of summer school, with no more than two absences allowed. 

Career and Technical Education (CTE) prepares students for career pathways in the global marketplace by providing experiential learning, post-secondary credits, and industry certifications. Monett High School students will have the chance to explore SRTC before their junior and senior years, opening up exciting opportunities for their future.

Class Descriptions

Construction

This course will equip students with the knowledge to distinguish between hand, power, and air tools utilized in the construction industry. With practical experience, students will be able to construct a diverse range of projects, including a birdhouse, folding stool, flower pot holder, and four corners

Graphic Design

In the Graphic Design course, students will learn the fundamentals of design, focusing on Adobe Photoshop, the industry-standard software for graphic designers. Students will also gain access to hands-on experience with other essential adobe programs used by professionals in the field. 

Marketing: Sports Marketing and Entertainment Emphasis

In the Sports Marketing and Entertainment Emphasis summer course, students will learn the fundamental marketing concepts, including the 4Ps and marketing mix, and how they apply specifically to the sports and entertainment industries. 

Precision Machining

In the Precision Machining summer course, students will learn the basics of mechanical design using AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D, two powerful software programs widely used in manufacturing industries. Students will have the opportunity to use the SRTC 3D printer to bring completed projects to life. 

Welding

In the Welding summer course, students will learn the importance of shop safety and how to work safely with welding equipment. Students will also gain experience with Oxy acetylene cutting and plasma cutting techniques. Through interactive lessons and hands-on projects, students will learn how to identify and create different weld joints and weld symbols. Students will also have the opportunity to work on an individual fabrication project that showcases creativity. 

Embedded Credit English (ECE)

Students will engage in real-world, hands-on, collaborative learning experiences emphasizing 21st-century skills to evoke critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. Students will use Missouri Standards for speaking and listening, reading, and writing for ELA to complete the different activities.
