Fall Walk/Bike to School Week

Dear Parents and/or Guardians:

The Monett R-1 school district has partnered with the Missouri Foundation for Health, Healthy Schools Healthy Communities initiative and PedNet since 2013 to implement the Safe Routes to School Program. The goal of this program is to encourage walking and bicycling to school in order to increase overall health, minimize traffic issues and congestion, as well as assist in reducing environmental repercussions, which occur when the majority of the school population is driven to school.

At Monett R-1 we are always looking for ways to have a positive impact on our students and our community outside the classroom. During the week of September 13th - September 17th we will celebrate our first FALL Walk/Bike to School WEEK of the school year! Please join students, parents and community members as we walk and bike together! Our mission is to teach kids important pedestrian safety skills and create safer walking/biking environments for everyone in our community.

How can you participate in Walk & Bike To School Day?

Walk with your child(ren) to school September 13th - September 17th.
Drop- off locations are located at:
Life360 Building - OLD Cox Monett Hospital (corner of Scott and Euclid)
Leaves at 7:15 AM
MES will ONLY drop-off/walk from Scott & Euclid
Dollar General on Broadway (9th and Broadway)
Leaves at 7:15 AM
Broadway drop-off is for CPE, MIS and MMS Campuses ONLY

Students will walk/bike with adult leaders in bright yellow vests, you can’t miss them! Our school resource officers will be joining us too! Students can participate with parents, neighbors and/or friends. If you live too far to walk the entire way, then meet up with a friend that lives closer to school or park a few blocks from your campus and join us rest of the way. Every step counts! Route information can be found at - https://www.monettschools.org/page/wellness, click “Walk/Bike to School” on the left hand side. Save the date for our October walk/bike event, October 4th - 8th!
