Parents/Guardian,

Welcome to a new school year! We are excited to see our students back on campus. We are implementing a few changes to help the first day of school be a smooth day for students, parents, and staff.

Last school year, we limited our school visitors on the first day of school due to Covid-19. The difference between previous years and last year was astounding. We saw less anxiety in students and parents. This change helped students transition better and enjoy the first day of school. We are now implementing limited visitors on the first day of school from now on.

We understand this is a very important day in the lives of our students and want to make sure you don't miss out on such an important milestone in their life. Teachers will be taking a first day of school photo and sending it home with students for parents to enjoy.

Limiting visitors improves safety by limiting Covid-19 contact in our building and less traffic concerns. Children will only be exiting cars next to the sidewalk and prevent people from crossing in front of the drop-off lanes.

We have limited parking space, which causes a traffic safety concern. When the parking spaces fill up, parents are parking where they can, walking in between moving vehicles and causing a traffic safety concern. The long lines also cause working parents to be late to work due to the slow-moving car lane.

We will have an amazing Open House tomorrow, August 17, from 2-6 pm with extended hours for photos, to answer questions, and allowing parents to have that moment without the parking issues and the first day of school stress. Your child's safety is our number one priority. We want to ensure students and parents have a safe and stress-free first day of school. We hope that by implementing these new procedures, our students will be able to relax and enjoy their first day to the fullest.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue to improve our processes for our Monett families and students.
