For SY18-19, the SRTC Army JROTC program is proudly beginning its 16th year at Scott Tech!  With first class facilities, including an indoor rifle range and 40 ft rappel tower, outstanding community support, and dedicated instructors, SRTC JROTC is committed to becoming the best JROTC program in Missouri.

The Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program is designed to teach high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment while instilling self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline.  Also, students will learn about personal finance, health, and fitness.  The focus is reflected in the mission statement, “To motivate young people to be better citizens.” JROTC is not a recruitment program for the military.  Participation in JROTC incurs no military obligation.  However, students choosing to go into the military have the opportunity of entering at a higher rank after completion of the program.  Many scholarship opportunities are available for JROTC students entering college directly after high school.

JROTC prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school while providing instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community and the nation.  The objectives of the JROTC program are:
    • Develop informed and responsible citizens
    • Strengthen character
    • Provide motivation and life skills necessary to graduate from high school
    • Develop the basic skills necessary to work effectively as a team member
    • Develop the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
